Foundations of Art GRADE 9-12 (first art class after grade 8)
This course is a continuation of grade 8 Art. It is the first class a student should take before going into the other art classes. It will emphasize a general background in the elements and principles of design and offers an opportunity to explore the processes of drawing, painting, color theory, and ceramics. Art history will also be integrated in the curriculum. Fee $15.00. Satisfactory completion of this course with a grade of B or higher is a prerequisite to move on to Art II.
ART II GRADES 9-12
Students will have completed foundations. This course will expand on the elements and principles of design and explore advance techniques and media exploration. Fee $20.00Satisfactory completion of this course with a grade of B or higher is a prerequisite to move on to Advanced Art.
Advanced Art GRADES 10-12
In this course the students become more competent at planning and executing entire projects. They learn to channel their energies and harness their creative ideas. This class offers the opportunity to explore portraiture, watercolor and sculpture. All of the studio art courses are geared toward students who desire to explore and refine their artistic skills. Fee $20.00 and a sketchbook. Outside of class sketchbook assignments required. Satisfactory completion of this course is a prerequisite to move on to Advanced Art II.
Advanced Art II GRADES 10-12*
This is a course for students that can think divergently and independently. They will learn to observe and interpret the visual world around them in a critical way. Most important, students learn to develop logical ways of viewing images in space. All of the studio art courses are geared toward students who desire to explore and refine their artistic skills. Fee $20.00 and Sketchbook
*Students registering for Advanced Art II or an Independent study need to present portfolio and confer with instructor. These are self-paced classes and the student must submit individual course objectives and artwork plans for the semester.Fabric and Fiber Art- Art performance see Life Studies
