ISD #881 Mission Statement
"Maple Lake Public Schools believes in developing a passion for learning that promotes active citizens who will enhance our society by building relationships, facilitating rigorous academic experiences, and meeting the needs of each student while maintaining a welcoming environment."
About Maple Lake School District
Our school district educates about 900 preschool through 12th grade students in a beautiful rural setting 30 miles south of St. Cloud and about 40 miles west of the Twin Cities on State Highway 55. We are dedicated to working together to provide our students with a high quality education in a safe, friendly environment. We receive strong support from our community. School events are well attended and approximately 500 people of all ages volunteer in a variety of capacities in our schools each year.
Maple Lake Elementary School and Maple Lake High School provide our students, staff and community with well-maintained, modern facilities. Up-to-date technology includes five computer labs, several modern servers, wireless internet, iPads, laptop computers, Interactive TVs and modern workstations in each elementary and high school classroom. Skilled personnel maintain our technology and work with community members and staff to plan for the future of technology in our schools. The elementary and high school media centers provide students and staff with a wide variety of printed and electronic resources. Maple Lake has some of the finest indoor and outdoor athletic facilities in the area.
The Maple Lake School Board is dedicated to employing highly qualified faculty members who are appropriately licensed in each academic area. Our students have a history of scoring well on state assessments geared to measure the academic progress of students and schools. Licensed teachers and paraprofessionals work in Maple Lake Public Schools to offer a comprehensive special education program. Maple Lake Elementary and High School offer many programs to help support student-learning: Title Services, ADSIS, Reading Recovery, Reading and Math Corps, Social Work, School-Based Therapy, and Targeted Services. Students in need of low incident services receive high quality services through the Meeker and Wright Special Education Cooperative (MAWSECO).
Academic offerings are enhanced through partnerships with Southwest Minnesota State University and Lake Superior College, which allow our students to earn up to 37 college credits by successfully completing college level courses at Maple Lake High School. Maple Lake’s membership in the Wright Technical Center provides students with access to 12 job-related courses such as auto mechanics, CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities), medical careers, welding, graphic communication, youth apprenticeships, cosmetology and law enforcement & firefighting.
All students have opportunities to participate in a wide selection of co-curricular and extracurricular activities that have enjoyed enormous success over the last several years. Our athletic programs include football, volleyball, cross country, gymnastics, basketball, hockey, wrestling, baseball, softball, golf, trap, alpine skiing, girls lacrosse, swimming, and track. Students also participate in vocal and instrumental music, speech, theatre, journalism, photography, visual arts, robotics and competitive academics.
Our community education program features an assortment of opportunities for learners of all ages. Arts and crafts, athletics, group trips, theater and a variety of classes are offered to students and community members. Preschool programs include on-site classes, Early Childhood Family Education opportunities for families with young children and Kidville, our on-site daycare that is staffed from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays.
Note From the Superintendent
It is my honor and pleasure to serve as Superintendent for the Maple Lake Public School District. I thank the community, Board of Education, District Administration and Staff for putting their trust in me. We believe that the students of ISD #881 are the most precious and most valuable resource our community has. It is our desire to work with students, staff, parents, and community to constantly maximize the potential of each child. We are grateful for your trust and confidence in the District.
Administration and staff will continue to foster a culture of continuous learning and growth, effective partnerships with students, staff, families, and community, an environment that promotes performance and innovation, effective and ongoing communication and outreach, as well as good and appropriate stewardship of all resources.
To be successful, every school district needs the support of parents and the greater community. Maple Lake Public School has a strong tradition of placing a high value on the health, well-being, and education of all of our students. Strong schools build strong and thriving communities.
Thank you for the privilege of serving your family, your children, and our community. I look forward to working with our parents and community in the coming year and if I can be of any assistance, please contact me at (320) 963-3114 or at email@example.com
