Curriculum
Maple Lake’s curriculum is a written plan that drives instruction. It encompasses the skills and concepts taught and evaluated to enhance student achievement. It is composed of content area philosophies, strands, program goals, aligned scope and sequence, learner outcomes, and assessment tools. Our curriculum is intentionally designed to meet district, state, and national standards.
The curriculum development and review process is on a five year cycle. All content areas move through the cycle of writing, piloting, implementing, monitoring, adjusting and reviewing/rewriting. Throughout this process, teachers follow a scope and sequence to ensure that students receive a systematic and comprehensive education.
The scope and sequence has been developed for all grade levels in all content areas. The scope refers to the skills and concepts students need to learn. The sequence refers to who teaches what to what extent.
